David graduated from The University of Sydney in 1993 and began specialist surgical training with an Internship at The Royal Veterinary College, The University of London. He then undertook a two year Surgical Residency at The University of Melbourne and a prestigious three year Surgical Residency at The University of Tennessee. He remained on faculty for two years as A’Professor of Surgery. He is one of only two Australians triple boarded in surgery by specialist examination and is a registered specialist in Europe, The United States and Australia.
David has 30 years of orthopaedic experience and has been at the forefront of joint replacement, fracture repair, arthroscopy and TPLO surgery in Australia. He has a very high caseload of major orthopaedic procedures and is recognized as one of the leaders in the field of veterinary orthopaedics.
David established Animal Orthopaedic Specialists in 2004 which remains the only hospital in Australia dedicated solely to specialist orthopaedic surgery in small animals. He has published original research in the veterinary literature and has lectured extensively in the USA, UK, Ireland and Australia.
David has developed a reputation for caring, honest advice and surgical decision making. He genuinely loves working with dogs and helping owners. Outside of the practice he is married with four sons and a Rotty called Harvey and enjoys spending time in or on the water.
