Your Pet’s Care: From Appointment to Aftercare

Preparing for your visit

Please ensure your pet is fasted for scheduled surgery. Please bring any current medications and specific dietary requirements.

Consultation and admission

On arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly reception and nursing team to complete the admission process and initial medical history collection. Your pet will be examined by one of our specialist surgeons and you will then discuss clinical findings, an individualised treatment plan and the post-operative period

Diagnostic imaging

All surgical patients will receive pre-operative imaging for diagnostic and surgical planning purposes. Advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities at Animal Orthopaedic Specialists includes digital radiography, CT, intra-operative fluoroscopy and off-site MRI.

Treatment

The worldclass surgical suites at Animal Orthopaedic Specialists includes human-grade anaesthetic monitoring and surgical instrumentation and implants, minimally invasive surgical technology and intraoperative imaging.

Post-operative care

Surgical patients will be hospitalised overnight under the care of dedicated overnight staff. They will be fed, walked and provided pain relief as needed. Comfortable and quiet wards ensure they have the best chance to get a good night sleep for enhanced recovery. Your pet will go home the following morning with written post-operative discharge notes as well as any required medications.

Getting A Referral For Your Pet’s Specialist Care

As a specialist orthopaedic practice, all appointments require a referral from your primary care veterinarian. We are proud to have a strong and trusting relationship with our referring veterinarians and work closely together to form the best long-term treatment plan for your pet.

If a referral is recommended by your vet, we ask that they send through your pet’s complete medical history and any relevant imaging to info@aosvet.com.au.
